Amadio Ranch, located in Laveen, AZ, near Phoenix, is a heritage farming establishment that was founded in 2010. The ranch encapsulates the essence of small family farming prevalent in the Phoenix region between the 1920s and 1950s.
In line with the farming practices of yesteryears, the Amadios are solely responsible for the operations and upkeep of the farm. Reflecting the tradition of consuming what you cultivate, Amadio Ranch has catered to 70-80% of their family's necessities while also serving the local community.
Central to their agricultural principles are sustainability and all-natural cultivation methods. The venture is currently developing a farm tour initiative aimed at guiding and motivating individuals to cultivate their own produce and embrace self-sufficiency.
Established by Eric and Christina Amadio in 2010, Amadio Ranch germinated from their personal gardening efforts that eventually yielded an excess harvest. Initially sharing their surplus with neighbors, the couple later decided to offer their produce for sale, leading to unforeseen success. Witnessing organic growth akin to their crops, Eric and Christina envisage themselves as mere participants in the venture's evolution.
Christina's familial tradition of preparing homemade pies inspired her involvement in baking. Transitioning from crafting pies for acquaintances into a commercial endeavor saw exponential growth — from producing ten pies daily at home to operating a fully licensed commercial kitchen churning out 200 pies per day.
The culinary division of Amadio Ranch exhibits a continual expansion and diversification, marked by the reintroduction of traditional recipes to patrons.
Eric and Christina's altruistic nature manifests in active community engagement through initiatives such as providing complimentary food to charity organizations or offering the premises for family photography sessions. Their vision includes extending the farm's amenities for universal enjoyment, viewing its ownership as a divine blessing meant to be shared with all.
Avid travelers, Eric and Christina indulge in global explorations and local farm visits during their excursions. Their adventures serve as a wellspring for innovative concepts that they incorporate into their farming practices.
Eric, hailing from a family that immigrated to the US from New Zealand in the 1940s, has roots in Phoenix, while Christina's upbringing in rural Illinois instilled her with a passion for farming. Complementing each other's strengths — with Eric being the visionary and Christina being the pragmatic force driving implementation — they form a harmonious team at Amadio Ranch.
